At Manchester Creative and Media Academy we strive to ensure that all students including children with SEND make rapid and sustained progress. We ensure that all our vulnerable students and children with SEND feel confident and safe within their environment.
Students at MCMA with SEND may need extra help because of a range of needs.
The Government sets out 4 areas of SEND:~
- Cognition and Learning: Difficulties within Reading, Writing or Maths.
- Communication and Language: Difficulties understanding and Processing information.
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Difficulties include managing relationships and/ or behaviour.
- Sensory/ Physical Need: Difficulties including hearing/ sight impairment or physical disability.
At MCMA we have a dedicated SEND team which begins with our Vice Principal of Inclusion Mrs J George who works closely with our SENCO Mrs Norbury to oversee the provision of SEND within the academy. Students then work closely with our dedicated team of Teaching assistants who provide additional support to students with SEND.
