Options and Choosing Options

  • options boy writing
Here at Manchester Creative and Media Academy, we pride ourselves in offering our students a diverse curriculum that will enable them to have real choices for their futures. We understand the importance of the option decisions that your child will be making and the need to provide you with a comprehensive overview of each of the subjects that your child could choose to study.

As you will have read in the media, the 'qualifications landscape' has changed and the qualifications are now different for students with the introduction of the new 9-1 grade and a skilled based focus. We have made many positive changes to our teaching and learning in order to accommodate these changes and to begin to prepare your child.

In addition to this, over the next few weeks, students will also have the opportunity to access 'taster lessons' in different subjects and begin to understand more about what a particular course entails.

This booklet contains a great deal of useful information for you about all the option choices available. During the Options Evening, you will also have the chance to speak to staff and find out more about each subject and the courses they offer. We are committed to working with you in order that each student can make the right choices for them. Our vision is for our students to leave the academy equipped to lead 'happy and successful lives' and this is why we put a great deal of effort into ensuring that our curriculum offer and the options process is as informative as possible.

Please can I encourage you to read this booklet carefully together, discuss what you hear at the options process and the information that your child shares with you from the taster sessions. Please do not hesitate to speak to any of us if you have any questions or concerns.

We look forward to continuing to work with you in order that we can achieve the very best for your child.
