Teacher of Drama

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Manchester Creative & Media Academy as a Teacher of Drama.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working hard to secure the highest quality of standards and outcomes in all areas and will be joining a dynamic team. They will be a creative thinker with an ability and determination to contribute to the development of MCMA as a centre of excellence in their subject area in order to secure excellence for all.

You will be joining the Academy at a very exciting time. The Academy is the most improved school in Manchester 2014-16, with its ‘rapid and substantial improvement’ being noted by Inspectors and in 2016, the Academy achieved its best ever GSCE results. The Academy has been asked to increase its intake for 2017 and beyond and therefore requires additional staff to work with us at this exciting time.

MCMA is a large campus set in nine acres of urban woodland and the learning spaces incorporate state of the art ICT, media and performance spaces. The Drama department boasts an enviable state of the art two tier auditorium which is used for both lessons and extra-curricular performances. At Key Stage 3, an engaging curriculum is taught providing a variety of topics such as physical theatre, devising from a stimulus and storytelling through Roald Dahl. These topics help develop a range of skills and offer a clear pathway into Key Stage 4. Students study OCR GCSE Drama, where they explore play texts such as Blood Brothers, The Crucible and Too Much Punch for Judy. The Department is really passionate about offering extra-curricular activities. At present, these include our whole school production, Shakespeare Schools Festival, KS3 Drama club, Drama Leaders, holding workshops and running trips to the theatre.

MCMA is part of the Co-operative Academies Trust. The Trust already sponsors eight successful academies in Leeds, Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent and has been ranked as one of the top performing multi academy trusts.
